Strategy
The Writhen Blade excels at both cut and thrust while having no shortage of range. With no apparent downsides, albeit average speed, it can safely be thought of as one of the best weapons in the game.
The Writhen Blade's main competitors are the Rapier and Sabre for having the highest base thrust and cut damage respectively, and the Mourning Sword for its high reach. The Writhen Blade fills a less specialized role than these other weapons, potentially allowing for a more flexible playstyle.
Its high reach really helps its high thrust damage, allowing the player to pick off enemies from a distance; however, this role is arguably better filled by the Rapier or Mourning Sword. To balance this, the Writhen Blade is also capable of a devastating cut attack while still benefiting from high reach, making it realistically the only sword good at dealing with swarms from a distance, as the Sabre has significantly lower reach, and the Rapier and Mourning Sword would both require a plethora of items in order to match the cut damage of the Writhen Blade
