Traps are the environmental hazards built into rooms, as opposed to the enemies that spawn in them. They are listed on the main page as one of the categories of thing you will meet in Dream.
Pits
Pits are floor features that hold a hazard. There are three kinds: water, Toxic Ooze and Spikes.
Floor and wall traps
Floor traps generate on the ground or on a wall at random within a room. There are four kinds: goblin, cage, fire and flytrap. Spikes are the only trap that also generates on walls.
The Flytrap is a special case: it can be killed and drops loot like an enemy, but it does not appear on the standard enemy spawn table and is categorised as a trap instead.
Resisting traps
The Spike Ring negates all damage from spike traps, and the Slime Ring negates damage from slime puddles.

From the official manual
- The manual warns new players about three perils by name: deadly spikes, carnivorous plants and cursed fires. It adds that there are other unexpected dangers and that one misstep can lead to great misery.
The manual details above come from the official game manual, a primary source: the developer's own documentation rather than community research.
