The Hub

Facing the bed used to re-enter Dungeon, the right side of The Hub is lined with statues of gods capable of providing permanent buffs in exchange for offerings of Dream Spheres. Next to the bed on the nightstand sits a stone hand and any Eyeballs, with which the player can toggle the active Eyeball for subsequent runs. Left of the hand on the wall is a cage with a ghastly face inside that allows the player to toggle Hints. Further left sits a Mirror with yet another ghastly face inside; your own. This reflection of yourself acts as an NPC with a full dialog tree unlocked by collecting Concepts. Left of the Mirror sits a tablet explaining The Hub and mocking the captivity of the player. Left of this on the wall sits a series of six buttons capable of displaying one of twenty-six alphabetical letters. This is a puzzle that unlocks the gate to the left, allowing the player walk down the path and unlock Caves of .

Sources and community notes

  • The Steam store page describes meta-progression between runs; the idols are where Dream Spheres are spent on it.
  • The Hub also hosts the six-letter puzzle: the achievements guide gives as the entry for the prison cell tablet.

From the official manual

  • The manual calls this place the Mind Prison. It is where you wake after dying, described as a place of reflection and respite between journeys into Dream. Interacting with the bed puts you to sleep and starts the next run.
  • The bedside table is used to swap which eye you start a run with, once other eyes have been unlocked.
  • Dying in Dream is not the end of the journey: the death screen reports damage inflicted, damage received, gold collected and items collected, and offers "Wake up" or "Keep dreaming".

From the game's official manual. Unlike the rest of the notes on this page, this is a primary source: it is the developer's own documentation, not community research.
