Eyeballs

Viewing revision 2 by Wiki owner (first-hand, in game) (2026-10-05 20:00). Current version

Eyeball.png Eyeballs are items that provide a unique power or ability to your left hand. All but the shield eye must be unlocked via NPC dialog. You may find Eyeballs as loot in very specific places like the Shop, however the eye you start each run with can be swapped out with the hand statue next to the bed in The Hub. Eyeballs are either active or inactive during their respective cooldown periods. When active, the eye in your hand will remain open and alert, however when inactive after use, the eye will close.

On-screen sigils

When an eye power is used — the Q button by default — a sigil flashes up on screen. Some spells do the same. These are feedback for the ability firing, not items you can pick up, which is why they are drawn as plain line art rather than as objects.

Recall is the one that is pinned down: it flashes on screen when the recall spell is used.

The other three are in the wiki's image set but nothing records which ability each belongs to. What is written above is a description of each picture, nothing more — the chalice-and-snake is the traditional symbol of healing and the bird resembles the one the Hawk Eye summons, but neither match has been confirmed, so neither is stated here as fact. If you recognise one in game, this is the section to fix.

First-hand: what these sigils are, and the Recall one, were described by the wiki's owner from their own play, October 2026.

Sources and community notes

  • The 0.1.7 patch notes say the eye ability can now be used at the same time as spells.
  • Players report Q as the eye activation key (see Healing Eye and Shield Eye).
  • A strategy guide gives Q as the key for the eye power.

From the official manual

  • The power of the left hand lives in the eye embedded in its socket, used with the Eye Power button.
  • You start the game with the Shield Eye. Once other eyes are unlocked, the bedside table in the Mind Prison swaps which one you begin a run with, which the manual says can significantly change your playstyle.

From the game's official manual. Unlike the rest of the notes on this page, this is a primary source: it is the developer's own documentation, not community research.
